Northern Ireland engagement photography {Hillsborough Forest Park} – Esther & Tim

The second of this week’s engagement photoshoots saw me take the short trip to Hillsborough Forest Park to meet Esther and Tim. It was a bit cold and very windy, but thankfully the rain held off and the trees provided us with a bit of much-needed shelter. We only had one minor disaster during the shoot, when Tim accidentally headbutted Esther, splitting her lip! But like a true pro, Esther was happy to continue with the shoot, and was even able to laugh about it. Definitely the sign of a couple who are meant to be together! Here’s a little preview of our stroll around the lake : )

Northern Ireland pre-wedding photography {Kinnego Marina} – Ashlene & Simon

Last weekend was all about the engagement photoshoots for me, which is always a nice change of pace from the madness of family photoshoots and weddings! On Saturday I headed down to Kinnego Marina, at Oxford Island to meet Ashlene and Simon for their relaxed pre-wedding photoshoot. Their June wedding is fast approaching so it was also a good chance for us to go over the last minute details and plans for the wedding day. Despite being plagued with swarms of flies, Ashlene and Simon were great sports and we were able to spend some time getting shots down by the water. Here are a few of my favourite photos from the session…

Northern Ireland engagement photoshoot {Mount Stewart} – Claire & Johnny

It’s time for some more engagement photo loveliness on the blog! I’m really loving shooting engagement sessions at the minute, it’s such a great way to get to know my future brides and grooms and you just can’t beat an afternoon wandering around a beautiful location like Mount Stewart. Last Saturday I went there to meet up with Claire and Johnny, who are getting married at the Clandeboye Courtyard in May, for their pre-wedding photoshoot. I’m sure you’ll agree they make a seriously cute couple!

Before we get to the photos, I should say that I discovered during the shoot that Johnny isn’t too impressed with modern photographers’ tendency to concentrate on the bride, leaving the poor groom out of focus and acting as a mere accessory, so I hope I’ve put enough photos of you in here Johnny! I’ll make sure I set aside extra time for groom photos on the wedding day : )

Ohh I love her style, i’m sporting a stripy top and blue trousers too although I certainly don’t look as cool! Awesome shots as always Lauren!

Northern Ireland engagement photography {Cathedral Quarter, Belfast} – Edel & Frank

[To view photos from Edel & Frank's wedding at the Slieve Russell Hotel, click here!]

It’s that time of year again, when I start to notice photographer friends mention the W word more and more, and there’s a real sense that everyone is getting themselves geared up and excited – yes wedding season is almost here! As I’m sure you’ve seen from the blog, I’ve been having a busy time with baby and portrait sessions recently, and of course they’ll continue right through the year. But from the start of March I’ll also be sharing lots of gorgeous weddings, and I can’t wait. The stars of today’s engagement shoot are Edel & Frank, who were one of the first few couples to book me for their wedding almost a year ago. So I’m very excited now that their big day is just around the corner.

When we were organising this engagement session, Edel told me that she and Frank weren’t really the kind of people who hang around in parks, so we decided that a city centre location would be more their style. I really love the Cathedral Quarter in Belfast, there are so many lovely colours and textures, I could shoot there all day. I’m really looking forward to their wedding at the Slieve Russell Hotel next month, I’m sure you’ll agree they’ll be a stunning couple! Here are a few of my favourites from their engagement photoshoot…

Northern Ireland engagement photography {Botanic Gardens & Queen’s University Belfast} – Julie & Alan

[To view photos from Alan & Julie's wedding at the Dunadry Hotel, click here]

“I’m going to bring a friend” Alan said, “to the ChemSoc pub crawl”. Great, I thought, we need all the numbers we can get! When he arrived with Julie, I started thinking that maybe, just maybe, this could be a bit more than a friend… The pub crawl ended up being just us really – tragic, I know – and I don’t think we actually left the first pub, but thankfully Julie didn’t take this as a damning indictment of Alan’s popularity, and the rest (as they say) is history : )

Alan has been a great friend of mine since we were paired up in labs in the first term of our Chemistry degree, so you can imagine how honoured and excited I was when he and Julie asked me to be their wedding photographer. Their wedding at the Dunadry Hotel is under a month away now, so yesterday we met up to go through all of the last minute plans, and also to get some relaxed pre-wedding photos. The shoot took place around the Botanic Gardens in Belfast, and at Queen’s University, two of my absolute favourite places to photograph. The session was full of laughs, I’m sure the wedding will be so much fun – I can’t wait!
