Northern Ireland family photography (Lady Dixon Park, Belfast) – Joseph, James & Patrick

I had a real run of lovely family shoots this autumn, I tend to photograph a lot of babies so it’s always fun to get out and about with some older kids. They tend to be a bit more reluctant to have their photo taken, but I think it’s really great to have these stages in a family’s life documented. With three boys at this shoot I definitely had my work cut out, but it was a real pleasure to capture some smiles and see the lovely relationship between the older two boys. The session took place at Lady Dixon Park, in Belfast, which happens to have some great trees for climbing, so of course the boys took the opportunity to show me how high up they could get! Here are a few of my favourite shots from the day.

Amazing work, well done. It’s lovely to see someone with a great eye for composition and producing lovely results.

Northern Ireland family photography (Belfast Botanic Gardens) – Shay

Some kids just run rings around me, and Shay was definitely one of those! I had a lot of fun chasing him around Belfast Botanic Gardens and Queen’s University, it seemed that every time I turned around he was running in the opposite direction. But even the most energetic and camera-shy little boys can’t escape having their photo taken forever, so we did actually manage to get some photos despite his best efforts! Bubbles always help : )

Northern Ireland family photography (Mount Stewart) – Isaac & Willow

It’s not often I post a blog post completely in colour, I do love my black and white photos. But for some reason all of my favourite photos from this one just worked best in colour. Probably something to do with the beautiful grounds of Mount Stewart, the kids’ colourful wellies and Willow’s super-cute pink tutu! I really enjoyed this shoot, Isaac and Willow are such sweet kids! I hope you also enjoy looking through a small selection of my favourite photos from our little wander in the gardens.

Northern Ireland family photography – Ben {2 years old}

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been over 2 months since I last blogged! I have to apologise, I don’t know where the time goes. October was an incredibly busy month for me, with 6 weddings in quick succession, and I’ve just been catching up since then. Finally I can say that all of my editing is up to date, lots of lovely wedding albums have been designed, ordered and delivered, and it’s time to get back to sharing some of what I’ve been up to over the past few weeks – there’s definitely no shortage of beautiful weddings and shoots to blog!

First up is a familiar face on the blog. I’ve photographed Ben on a number of occasions now: when he was a newborn, 9 months old, and again when his baby brother David was born. On his second birthday I met up with him again, for a photoshoot with his doting nana. Here are a few of my favourite shots!

Northern Ireland baby photography – Hannah

When parents contact me about having a family photoshoot, they often ask for recommendations for locations. Of course on my blog you’ll see there are some popular locations that crop up regularly, like parks and beaches, but I always try to stress that it’s often best to keep it simple. In this case baby Hannah’s photoshoot took place in her grandparents’ garden, and in a field just down the lane, locations that will mean something to the family when they look back on the photos in years to come. I hope you enjoy looking through this little selection of my favourite photos from the session, Hannah took the whole process very seriously so she didn’t give us a lot of smiles, but we managed to get a few in there! : )
