It’s time for another beautiful baby on the blog! It’s turning out to be a busy year for me with newborns, with a couple more due this month. The busy wedding season will be here before we know it, so it’s nice to fit in a few baby sessions over the winter. Sarah was a little bit older than most of the newborns I photograph, but at 4 weeks old I don’t think we can really call her old! Like most older babies, she took a little bit longer than usual to get settled, but she did reward us with some brief spells of sleep! We also got some shots with mum and dad, which I really love – it’s always nice to record the whole family on such lovely occasions. Here is a small selection of my favourite shots from the session…

It’s hard to believe how quickly time passes sometimes. In summer 2011 I photographed a beautiful little baby called Jude, and it really seems like yesterday to me – I was quite shocked when I looked back at his blog post and saw the date! This weekend I met Jude again and found that he’s turned into a beautiful toddler and, in the past couple of weeks, a big brother! I was there to photograph the new baby in the family, 11 day old Ben, and what a lovely little baby he is. It took us a while to get him settled (he seems to have a massive appetite for someone so small!) but once he was well fed he was just perfect. The newborn boom this week also gave me an excuse to go out shopping for some new backdrops – I really like the blankets, but I think Ben stole the show : )

My third newborn of the week came in the form of beautiful 9 day old baby Abigail. As the rest of the country noisily watched Ireland win in the rugby, I was enjoying the lovely peace and quiet that can only come with a newborn shoot. Abigail was a very entertaining model, giving us all sorts of funny facial expressions when she was awake – some of these photos really make me smile! But as soon as she dropped off to sleep she turned into a total little angel, complete with those amazing squished up baby lips. Here’s a little selection of my favourite photos from the session : )

I’m very pleased to introduce the second of this week’s newborns, baby Rosa! Although she was two and a half weeks old when I met her, Rosa arrived quite early so she was still lovely and sleepy during our session. Normally I spend a lot of time sitting around waiting for babies to fall asleep, but this time we had real trouble getting her to stay awake! She only gave us the tiniest glimpse of those beautiful big eyes, but made up for it in super-cute sleeping poses. Here is a little selection of my favourite photos from the session – I absolutely love the shots of Rosa on her tummy, such a little angel : )

After setting aside almost all of January for admin, editing and album designs, it’s really lovely to be out and about on shoots again this week. It’s been a while since my last newborn session, but like buses, if you wait long enough then you can be sure that three will come along at once! Over the next week or so I’ll be sharing photos from baby Rosa and baby Ben’s first photoshoots, but for today the star is 11 day old Heath (fantastic name alert!). I’m sure you’ll agree that he’s absolutely beautiful, and although he was keen to stay awake to find out what was happening around him, we did manage to get a few very cute sleepy shots.
