Northern Ireland newborn photography: Ruairi {10 days old}

This Friday I took a lovely morning drive up into the Glens of Antrim (through some very unexpected snow chaos on the motorway!) to meet my latest newborn star, tiny 10 day old Ruairi. Ruairi’s mum Leanne and I worked in the lab together a few years ago, so I was really happy when she asked me to take some newborn photos of her beautiful new son. He was a bit reluctant to sleep for us at first, keeping a watch on what we were up to with his big blue eyes, but he couldn’t fight it for long and was soon fast asleep. Here are a few of my favourites from the session : )

Aww, I adore the 3rd one from the bottom and it’s such a lovely name!

Northern Ireland baby photography: Violet {7 months}

One of the best things about being a family photographer is watching families change and grow, and documenting all of the important milestones in their lives. Last autumn I met little Violet for the first time, when I took her newborn photographs, so I was very pleased to visit her again this week for some baby photos. Of course being Easter week she was sporting a seriously cute pair of bunny ears! We then got some natural shots of her playing in her nursery, or maybe more accurately tearing her nursery apart! Here are some highlights of the day : )

Northern Ireland family photography {The Argory} – the Lowe family

Today I was back at one of my most popular family photoshoot locations, the Argory near Dungannon. I can definitely see why it’s such a favourite with families who live nearby, the gardens and grounds are really beautiful, and I always love shooting there. This session was organised mainly to get some portraits of toddler Rosa, to celebrate her recent 2nd birthday, but also to get some nice family shots and a few photos of big sister Lucy and brother Connor.

I have to dash off to England first thing tomorrow morning, so this blog post is a little bit shorter than usual, but I wanted to share some of my favourites before I left. I’m sure you’ll agree that these are three seriously beautiful kids! : )

another beautiful shoot Lauren. Love the one with the little girl with path leading away in the background.

Northern Ireland family photography {Stormont Park, Belfast} – Rafferty & Gracie

It’s been a little while since I’ve been out and about photographing kids, so I was really looking forward to Wednesday’s family photoshoot in Belfast. I started the session, with 1 year old Rafferty and his 2 year old sister Gracie, at home in their beautiful bedroom. Gracie is just about to get her own room, so her mum wanted some photos there before the big move! After a while we went out to the garden, where the kids showed me the amazing boat-shaped sandpit that their dad built – very cool! Finally, we headed off to nearby Stormont Park to play among the trees and get some family photos in the sunshine. Here are a few of my favourite images from the day…

Such cute kids, and I love their outfits! Great work, Lauren!

Wedding anniversary photos: Mum & Dad!

This is the bit where I normally introduce the couple who’ll be starring in today’s blog post, and say a few little bits about how lovely I think they are, and how good I think they are together. But when it’s your parents I suppose that all goes without saying! 32 years ago on Thursday my mum and dad had their wedding, and they’ve been happily married ever since. They’re staying over on this side of the country for a few days to celebrate, so while they were here we thought we’d have a little photoshoot to mark the occasion. I think they planned to have a trip to celebrate their 30th anniversary, but two years late isn’t too bad! We went for a walk around one of my favourite photography locations, Lady Dixon Park in Belfast. 32 years ago, it snowed on their wedding day, but thankfully the weather for this shoot was perfect. Here are my favourites from the session…
