Northern Ireland baby photography – Harry {10 months}

Firstly, whoever stole October and November better own up quickly, because I have no idea how we suddenly got to December! This could be the last portrait shoot I’ll be blogging this year (unless I’ve forgotten someone!) because tomorrow I’m off to Scotland for Jo-anne and Fraser’s wedding in Glasgow’s House for an Art Lover – sooo excited!! – and when I get back I’ll be flat out finishing off all my November editing so I can enjoy my Christmas break without feeling guilty about not working : )

So I’m very pleased that I got a baby as cute as 10 month old Harry to finish off the year in style. He started the session by giving me some seriously professional poses!

undefined

Harry’s mum, Lee, wanted some photos to celebrate his first Christmas, so we got him into his little Christmas outfit and let him loose on the tree – surprisingly he wasn’t overly interested, I don’t think he’s realised how much fun it is to try to pull them down! He did enjoy playing with the baubles though, but mainly trying to eat them, as babies do : )

undefined

There’s something about being set free on mum and dad’s bed that babies just love, and Harry was no exception. Big thanks to parents Lee and Gareth for being so welcoming, and for auntie Claire who bought them this photoshoot as a gift. I hope you all have a brilliant first Christmas with little Harry : )

Lovely images Lauren, I’m sure little Harry’s parents will be really pleased with them:)

Northern Ireland newborn photography: baby Olivia (7 days)

I had a good feeling about little Olivia as I drove up the motorway on Monday, and she didn’t disappoint! At 7 days old she was the perfect age for newborn photographs, and after lots of milk she fell fast asleep. A perfect little model!

Since Christmas is fast approaching, I thought a festive red blanket would be a good way to start…

undefined

We were obviously making a bit too much noise with our chitchat, because Olivia felt the need to stick a little finger in her ear to block us out : )

undefined

I love these last few photos – it’s always my aim to get some shots like this, but it’s not always possible. The baby really needs to be in a lovely deep sleep and thankfully Olivia was out for the count. Such a beautiful little baby face!

Big thanks to dad John for organising this photoshoot as a gift for new mum Victoria, and for booking nice and early so we were able to get these photos at just the right time! I hope she stays this well behaved forever : )

Awh, so cute! You must be a baby whisperer, to get them sleeping like that!

Northern Ireland newborn photography – baby Freya {14 days}

It’s been a few weeks, but it’s newborn time on the blog again! This was an unexpected one for me, booked at the last minute, but luckily I had a free session on Wednesday – I never like to miss a newborn opportunity! At two weeks old, Freya was just on the upper edge of the perfect age range for newborn photos, and although she never got into a really deep sleep, she did take a little nap to let me get some lovely sleepy shots. Here’s a little preview of her photoshoot…

I can forgive little newborns for not sleeping for me if they have faces as cute as this! Love her big eyes : )

I had to get a closeup of those tiny lips and hands, so perfect. Thanks as always to mum Laurie for inviting me to meet her beautiful new arrival, and for being so patient throughout the session. I’ll end with another cute bunny photo – it seems to be a favourite toy of my newborns recently!

Northern Ireland family photography {The Argory} – the Evans family

It’s time for a look at the third of this weekend’s photoshoots, and the second family session. On Sunday afternoon I headed across the country to The Argory, near Dungannon, to meet the Evans family. This was one of the photoshoots that I had to reschedule due to the horrific rain last month, but this time the weather was much kinder. The thing I love about photographing families outside of a studio is that no two sessions are the same, and the final photos depend so much on the location, the weather and the personalities of the children – I love not knowing what I’m going to get until I start shooting!

Here are a few of my favourite photos from Sunday, as always it was a struggle to choose. I love how the autumn colours are still hanging on at The Argory, winter isn’t quite here yet!

Like most toddlers, Ethan, who’s almost 2, was wary of the camera at first. But how cute does he look in his little dungarees? : )

Big sister Rebecca, 6, lost one of her front teeth a couple of days ago – I’m reliably informed that a boy kissed it out, but she denies everything! After a little walk around the structured gardens of The Argory, we headed into the woods to play in the autumn leaves. I always forget how much pleasure kids can get from sticks! And I absolutely love the photo of little Ethan with a leaf on his head : )

Someone said something funny!

Family photographs in Northern Ireland

This line of trees is like a photographer’s dream – I’m sure it’s gorgeous in summer but it’s perfect even in winter. I think these are some of my favourite photos ever, especially the black and whites (I know, every photoshoot seems to be my favourite ever, yesterday’s was too!).

The afternoon light was fading fast, but before heading home we stopped off in a little play park – some of the activities actually looked pretty challenging but Rebecca navigated them expertly.

Big thanks to mum Mandy for organising this photoshoot, I hope you didn’t have too many muddy clothes to wash at the end of it! : )

I do love an autumnal shoot! That line of trees was perfect for the pics! Lovely as always!

Northern Ireland family photography – the Massey family

When I was organising this session, dad Glenn told me that his boys were definitely at their best in the morning, so we scheduled this family photoshoot for 9am on Saturday. Now I like to think of myself as a bit of a morning person, but nothing prepared me for the energy these boys have so early in the day! They were full of beans, bouncing on the bed and showing off all of their favourite toys. Three boys means loads and loads of photos – I had difficulty choosing a few for this post but I think I stopped it being ridiculously long : )

Oldest boy Ethan (5) told me about his current favourite storybook, and showed me his absolute favourite toy – a very cute giraffe. I actually think I have a giraffe just like this somewhere, Ethan clearly has good taste!

undefined

Ethan’s little brother Aidan (3) is just mad about dinosaurs, I was quite jealous of his extensive dinosaur toy collection. Like most kids his age, he wasn’t overly keen on posing for photos, but just look at his gorgeous eyes when he did give the camera a glance!

undefined

The boys were glad to get a little break, playing with fire engines and dad’s iPhone, while I went to meet my next little model…

undefined

… and here he is – 10 month old Caleb! Such a cutie, and just about that age where his favourite thing is crawling along at top speed, trying to throw himself off the sides of the bed. Luckily mum and dad were on hand to make sure there were no nosedives!

undefined

Next, it was time to head outside. I love this little sequence of shots – Ethan was trying to help me get a shot of him and Aidan together, but Aidan kept running off. Look at the “stern big brother” look he’s giving as Aidan runs back! Love it : )

undefined

Getting a family shot with everyone looking at the camera is always difficult with three kids under 6, but we managed it!

undefined

Before I left there was just time for a few quick shots on the boys’ grandad’s boat – best toy ever, even on dry land…

undefined

Massive thanks to all the family for welcoming me into their home – as always it was great fun, and definitely worth the early start : )

Lauren,

Fantastic photographs, anyone who can capture photos of my boys without motion blur is talented!

Really impressed how you put the boys at ease and connected with them.

Totally love the photographs, very stylish and modern, love them!

Regards

Glenn
